Troutbeck Circular Walking Route

A Perfect 2-Hour Lakeland Stroll

Perfect for a morning or mid-afternoon stroll. This circular route is a great choice if you would like a few hours away from the hotel without committing to a long hike or very steep climbs. In regards to clothing, we recommend shoes with robust tread and suitable clothing for weather conditions.

1.As you look out towards the lake from Holbeck Ghyll, head left onto the neighbouring field via a large field gate accessed from a gravel section of the car park. Follow the field, towards a line of trees where you will see a field gate. Go through the gate and turn left where you will start to walk up-hill.

2.You will pass a white cottage and a stone farm building, shortly after take the path sharp right and progress through the gates – continue walking the gravel path uphill

3. You will come to a section with two swing gates, pass through both and follow the path to the wright heading towards Troutbeck (you may notice “Troutbeck” etched into the stone wall). Go straight ahead along the track between two stone walls.

4. Keep on the track until a bench seat can be seen with a path leading down to the right. Take this path and continue following until you reach the lane

5.When you reach Holbeck Lane, turn right and follow the lane for approximately 50 yards then continue along the bridle path which will be on your left.

6. The bridle path finishes at the main road (A591), at this point turn right (towards Brockhole Visitor center) and continue following the footpath until you reach Holbeck Lane

7. Turn right when you see Holbeck Lane and follow the country lane as it climbs up for about half a mile. The hotel driveway will be on your left.

Our Commitment to Transparent Ratings and a Greener Future

At Holbeck Ghyll, we believe in transparency and the power of community feedback. That’s why our hotel ratings are based on reviews from trusted booking channels such as Booking.com, Expedia, Google, and TripAdvisor. These platforms provide real, unbiased insights from guests who have experienced our hospitality firsthand.

We’ve chosen to move away from traditional, dated rating systems because we recognise that today’s travelers rely more on open, social proof. This approach ensures our ratings reflect the most current and genuine guest experiences.

In alignment with our commitment to sustainability, the funds previously allocated to subscribing to outdated rating systems have been redirected towards environmental initiatives. These initiatives include waste reduction programs, support for local conservation efforts. We believe this not only enhances your stay but also contributes to a healthier planet.

Thank you for being part of our journey towards a more transparent and sustainable hospitality experience.
