The Lake District is any walker’s dream destination due to the stunning views, varying terrains and a wide range of routes to explore. Holbeck Ghyll is lucky enough to be situated at the heart of many popular walks ranging from 4 hour hikes, to shorter leisurly strolls to the lake or nearby towns such as Ambleside, Windermere or Bowness.

We’ve incuded a few of our favorite walks on this page (with options suitable for all), if you have something more challenging in mind our team are always happy to offer their suggestion – alternatively we can help arrange a walking guide for your visit (pre-booking required).

Jenkins Cragg

A 4 mile circular walk over varying terrain including road, tarmac bridleways, muddy / rocky paths and fields. Mild uphill walking with rest-stop including cafes and boat trips.

Wansfell-Pike

Wansfell Pike

A 7 mile circular walk over varying terrain including road, slate and mud. The walk includes stunnings views of the lake and surrounding fells from the summit of Wansfell Pike and also passes by a waterfall before leading into a nearby town (Ambleside)

Walk To Troutbeck

A 2 hour circular walk starting and finishing from Holbeck Ghyll. The route passes-by Brockhole (Lake District Visitor Center) where you will find cafes, gardens and walks.
