Award Winning Wine List
Wine is a fascinating subject and one we take very seriously at Holbeck Ghyll. Our charming Chief Sommelier, Stefan Lydka, spends a considerable amount of time sourcing individual suppliers and the finest growers - often small, private vineyards - to ensure that there is a wine to suit every guest’s palate.
We’ve travelled extensively in our quest to put together an interesting, exciting and good value list and it now includes nearly 300 fine wines from around the world, including many traditional favourites, a wide selection of excellent Clarets and Burgundies, and some more unusual examples from emerging wine regions such as Georgia, USA and Slovenia.
The stunning New World wines that have helped win us extra applaud have been christened Stefan’s ‘fantastic finds’ and the knowledgeable team at Holbeck Ghyll are always delighted to advise on matching wines to dishes from our award-winning menus.
Frequently acknowledged for the extensive lists of both half bottles and dessert wines, Holbeck Ghyll is proud to have been the only restaurant in the North West to have been shortlisted for Imbibe’s Louis Roederer Wine List of the Year award 2011. We were also awarded the coveted Good Food Guide Wine List of the Year award in 2009 as well as being highlighted for having a Notable Wine List in the 2009 AA Guide.
Stefan and the team were also proud to be awarded the prestigious Condé Nast Johansens Taittinger Wine List of the Year in 2007.
