CARTMEL RACES

The annual Cartmel August Bank Holiday horse racing meetings at Cartmel Racecourse near Grange-over-Sands are always great days out and in 2010, for the very first time, there is an additional Thursday evening meeting.
As well as three action packed days of racing, there's a hugely popular funfair, a good range of trade stands, public bars and numerous catering outlets.
THE GREAT NORTH SWIM
Saturday 4th September & Sunday 5th September
The Great North Swim invites swimmers of all levels of ability to brave the chilly waters of Britain's longest lake and raise money for charity with the option of swimming the one mile course on either Saturday 4th or Sunday 5th, 2010.
