Experience the ultimate in winter breaks.

Our regulars know a thing or two about enjoying themselves when it is winter in the lakes so we have combined their requests and favourite things to come up with the Ultimate Winter Weekend!

Arrive in time for Afternoon Tea; this is a warming, winter affair taken beside one of our large, crackling log fires – with toasted marshmallow and buttered crumpets,  cream-topped hot chocolate spiced up with a shot of rum and time to catch up on a few chapters from your favourite book.

Winter time can produce a magical landscape, the mountains take on a Narnia-like feel, capped with snow, glistening under bright blue skies, jack frost and crisp air. Perfect for a stroll along the river at Skelwith Bridge; take an hour’s walk among some spectacular winter scenery with a flask of homemade soup. We have fur-lined Welly Boot Warmers to ensure your toes stay toasty and then on your return, snuggle in by our fire, wrapping your hands around a warming glass of our homemade Mulled Wine, flavoured with cinnamon, oranges and spices. If you have been out for a little too long – our sauna and steam room await, ready to warm you right through to the cockles of your heart.

Dinner time is our usual Michelin starred winter menu – drawing on seasonal produce such as local venison and beef.  Our restaurant team can recommend some big, bold red wines such as the Meerlust Rubicon to compliment your dinner.  Our pastry kitchen puts such winter delights on the menu as the ever popular Cherry Clafoutis or the Chocolate plate.

The morning is the time for a lazy lie-in.  Order breakfast in bed before you luxuriate in a bath full of bubbles.  Our late –checkout means you have plenty of time to relax, just sit out on our terrace, borrow a pair of our ear-muffs and mittens and admire the fabulous view, wrapped up snugly with one of our woollen wraps made from the wool of local Herdwick Sheep enjoying a glass of Winter Pimms. The daring take a plunge, sinking low into our outdoor hot tub to enjoy temperatures of over 40 degrees and the stunning view over the fells while their partner enjoys their hours treatment in our ESPA spa.

Our Ultimate Winter Weekend is available from November through to March and is available Monday to Sunday.  Saturday nights are subject to a minimum of a two night stay.  The package per night includes luxury accommodation in the room catergory of your choice, dinner for two in our Michelin Starred restaurant, breakfast for two the following morning, crumpets and marshmallows with a Liqueur Hot Chocolate per person, a half hour spa treatment per person, a reserved one hour in the outdoor Hot Tub, a Winter Pimms per person, a flask of hot soup between two people, walking routes, access to ear muffs, mittens and wraps (these do need to be returned though).
