The National Gardens Scheme kick-starts the season with their tribute to Wordsworth's Daffodils.  Gardens open from Cartmel to Carlisle, all in a blaze of yellow.

During April, May and June the lakes are ablaze with colour as many flowers burst into life.

Summer time sees the very popular Holker Hall Garden Festival in June along with the CountryFest show in Kendal.  The summer closes with the Westmorland County Show on the second Thursday in September.
